Final Notes
The original Darklands technical supplement suggested that users could use Roland MT-32/LAPC-1 sound systems for music alongside Sound Blaster cards for digital sound effects. At first we couldn't manage this. But the Jim McConkey, technical guru for MicroProse's sound department, realized that due to the way our sound drivers interact with your hardware, simply renaming certain files would provide simultaneous support for Roland and any sound board with digital sound capability! We apologize for not having thought of this embarassingly simple approach earlier.
PROCEDURE:
The following procedure allows any of the following sound boards to provide digital sounds while a Roland MT-32 or LAPC-1 provides music.
Only use this procedure if you have a Roland and one of the following boards:
This technique causes non-digital sounds to be sent to your Roland, while the digital sounds are send(sic) to whatever you specify using the INSTALL program.
RESTORATION:
If at any later time, you wish to restore Darklands to its normal configuration, enter the following four lines.
